AS a last treat i have a video i made sometime early in my experience as a dj but i still think its a rather good display at what im doing during a set. This freestyle set was a quick display of all the things i talked about in previous posts about changing the tempo of songs to beat match. Thank you for the views and comments i appreciate it.

My equipment
First i need my laptop and my midi controller. The controller is a sound card that runs to the speakers. On it i have complete control of the song including pitch tempo and other effects. By practicing you understand how to use these controls in unison and seamlessly connect songs. Special cables run from the mixer to the speakers. I use Class D amplified 15" speakers. Class d amplifiers are great for loud music they do not distort at high volumes. The music keeps its quality because the amplifiers do not heat up as much. The equipment and the setup is important to the party as when you have a room full of people sound is absorbed by every object in that room.

Big room party mix 11.12
since today is a Thursday and many of you may be going out i decided to skip straight to the party. below is a 30 minute big room dance mix for you to listen to before you go out. This is a perfect playlist to start the night with some energy. This festival style playlist features songs that many Dance music faithful may recognize and some new ones for them to listen to and brings the same energy that you feel at an Edc or Ultra music festival.
So if you plan to go out tonight or this weekend don't turn on your spotify skipping through songs and spending most of your time searching for the perfect song or listening to commercials on pandora. just as easy as find some big speakers and dance. i appreciate every play and those who like and share these mixes.
And as always if you planning a party choose a dj you know can deliver for you. Thank you again!

MIX (1)
Glad to say i finally figured out the mess of wires to make the first Mix of the blog for you guys. Go ahead and press play while you read. In a brief explanation i wanted to show those who are not familiar with dance music the many different genres and how i progress through genres and bpms,. unlike popular rap, pop, or rock music dance music is usually kept around the realm of 120-130 bpm (Beats per minute) and this allows for a lot of creativity as you hear i have 2 songs playing at once for a majority of the mix. overlapping these songs requires beat-matching sometimes, which is when you are mixing 2 songs with different bpms. some adjust the tempo but personally im confident in my ears so i just pull back on the disks slowing the record down as it spins till i can consistently match up the beats playing. sometimes this makes for some mistakes but you will not always have the time to adjust the tempo and the beats could end up jumbled anyways if not done correctly.
the point of this mixes will be for me to introduce you across the 10+ genres of dance music and introduce you to songs you've never heard before. I starts out with heavy on house music which is lighter and involves catchy melodies and smooth synths and a lot of reverb (echo). from there i bring you to my bigroom house tracks. Big room is very heavy loud thumping bass and if any one goes to a festival that is what you will hear. big room is all about energy and unlike house instead of layering the songs most of the time you will switch to another song with similar elements. This could be the snare, a synth, the pattern, the songs key. For this type of music its imperative to know your library of songs inside and out. in my 1,000+ dance songs big room takes up 1/3 of my library. This way the crowed is always on their toes and they're not listening to the same 8 bars and the energy stays at its peak.
hear is the set list for anyone who is interested.
Avicii - seek bromance (vocal edit)
Jack U - To U (Clean Bandit Remix)
Diplo & Sleepy Tom - Be Right There
Martin Garrix - Animals (Oliver Heldens Remix)
Avicii - Addicted To You (David Guetta Remix)
Calvin Harris - Outside (Hardwell Remix)
Botnik & 3LAU - Vikings
Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike Vs. Diplo & Fat Boy Slim - Eparrei (W&W Remix)
Galantis - Peanut Butter Jelly
A small playlist for the sake of time but i will have plenty more upcoming and plan to leave one for every blog post exploring the different genres and music that i love.
As Always If you or anyone you know is in need of a dj or is throwing a party please give me a call or email at djgarrettagustin@gmail.com (413-426-8319) i appreciate every play, like and share you guys give me, Thank you very much for listening.

With this weekend over unfortunately i had to turn people down on gigs. I would like to ask that if you plan on having a party please ask for my help at least in a week advance. My usual routine requires a long time of practice and planning so that i know what i will play for the party. That includes talking to the customer and others involved on certain things including their taste of music and setting up in as much advance as possible. This crucial as speakers need to be placed in the correct area so that sound is clear through the house. If not it will be so muffled you'll be able to hear everyone's conversations over the music, which will probably be about how they can not hear the music.
Also i would like to ask if you could listen to my new original track based in the Dance music genre. for those who do not know dance music this could be a nice introduction and i assure you that with some searching you will find a style that you also like. You can see in the photo below that a lot goes into these songs and i wanted to show you the general makeup of what some of your favorite songs would look like and there is even more tracks and patterns off screen. In a brief explanation most tracks have an intro and an outro of usually basic loops and drums so this gives people playing the track more options on mixing and allows for more creativity. I appreciate you taking time to listen to my song and share it as well as reading the blog, next week i would like to show my personal equipment and explain what we are actually doing when we are playing.

Dj for your next party
Now that the school year is in full swing and you and your friends have been going out or maybe thinking about throwing a party yourself you know that music makes the party. A party where no one is dancing is the party no one wants to be at so its imperative to invest wisely. I am a local DJ from Springfield and have spent the last 2 years practicing, playing gigs, shadowing businesses and more practice, preparation is key and experience is priceless. For those who went to Tight and Bright last spring Have already seen what i can do. Now with much more music and ability the sky is the limit. what i can offer that maybe some Djs can not is a reasonable price, references, and custom mixes so that you, the customer, gets what they want.
I come with my very own speakers, stands, cords, and if needed lights. These are class D amplified Peavey speakers with 15" subs. For those that do not understand class D amplifiers are the best amplifiers to play at high volume because it will not affect the quality of the music. I use a Midi controller that connects to my laptop and feature a library of songs that is 1,000+ deep from different genres from mostly dance music to reggeaton.
Djing is a complicated job than people realize because the crowed only notices when you make a mistake and they can ruin the night. The best mixes will sound like one long song, but songs change in key and BPM (beats per minute) and in order to get the best results at your next party you will need someone who knows their songs and can beatmatch as well as other skills. So if you or anyone you know is throwing a party go with a DJ you've heard and can trust to bring energy to the dance floor.
